Clam
This
clam shell is still stuck to the outside of the meteorite. It is less than
1/2 centimeter across. The sand that is inside the clam is stuck to it,
either when the lava flowed and melted the clam to the shell, or more likely, it
was melted to the clam when the meteorite entered our atmosphere and subject to
extreme heating. I have tried to remove the sand grains with a probe and
that is how I know they are stuck. This clam is further evidence that the
Frass Meteorite was created in an ocean or lake bed, in a place where there was
once water and living things.
