µmike, the human being

I am a philosopher and therefore I am interested in ideas. Most of humanity seems to be interested in other humans and what they wear and how they can move their bodies. But a philosopher must be interested in ideas and not people. When I was little, I once heard that great minds think and talk of ideas, average minds think and talk of things, and small minds think and talk of people. In that regard, I want to try to keep my sights set on those things that are important. What I wear or what I look like is not important. My ideas may be important and that will be left to humanity to judge. So as a philosopher, I would ask that you focus your attention on my ideas and not on me as a human being on this planet.

You might wonder why there is a micro sign in front of my name. The micro sign means one millionth, or literally, the very small. Since I have decided to follow philosophy as my life's work, I symbolize that situation by putting the micro sign in front of my name. This signifies someone who realizes how small his place in the cosmos really is and therefore doesn't think of himself too highly. Remember, ideas are important. My bones may soon rot in the dust, but if my ideas are good enough and pure enough and in tune with nature enough, then the ideas will live long after I am gone.

The very form of the symbol signifies humbleness. Most proper names start with a capital letter to signify the importance of the name. But the lowly micro sign ( m ), starts out below the "lines" and never rises to the stature of a capital letter. This shows the desire of the philosopher to be humble in his search for the truth and to never take himself too seriously. That is why you will find numerous "jokes" in my writings. I like to laugh and I like to see others laugh, so I hope some of my writings amuse you as well as educate you.

Other people use Mr. or Mrs. or Dr. or something to signify how much the world should respect them, but all a "micro" wants is the basic respect that all human beings on this planet should receive and give to each other. A "micro" doesn't take himself (come on ladies, smile when I say "himself" to signify all of mankind) too seriously, since he realizes how small his place in the overall scheme of things might be. Therefore, you will find humor throughout my writings, as I would like for you to enjoy yourself in whatever time you might spend with me. If something I say hurts you in some way, then I am sorry, for I would never hurt you or anyone else on purpose. But since I "poke" fun at all humans, myself included, and since many times I am misunderstood when I write, please try to take all things in the spirit that they are offered, and smile, as I am doing here.

A "micro" never worries about being wrong. Each time you are wrong is just another opportunity to learn the truth. So if truth is your goal, you shouldn't worry about making mistakes. In the development of the gravionic model of physical systems, I have taken many paths and looked at many perspectives. Many of these have been wrong. The very first idea I pursued when I began rethinking this problem several years ago, was dreadfully wrong. But once I discarded it, I found a better idea that later worked. Too many people in science worry about being wrong, but I guess that's an advantage to being a philosopher and a "micro." Our joy should always be the joy of finding the truth, never the joy of "me" being right. Love the truth and it will serve you well.

Autobiography

(With Boasting)

Although I have never thought it important to tell others about myself, many people seem to resist reading what I have written because they haven’t heard of me or think I have no education to make the statements that I make. For those who need "proof" of my ability to think, I will offer the following short autobiography of myself, but you would be better off if you would just read what I have written and tell me where I have gone wrong.

My early years were uneventful except for the fact that I have always had a love for God and a love for science. As a youngster, I read every science fiction book in the library, some as many as four times. I built hundreds of rockets in the 50's as well as radios and other electronic devices. I had a large chemistry set for most of my youth. The other major factor in my early life was being raised as a Christian. Every night I knelt beside my bed and prayed two prayers. First, I prayed that God would let me do something important in the world. And second, I prayed that He would send me "a piece of space."

I graduated high school and joined the Marine Corps where I spent four years in active duty including one year in Viet Nam. After receiving an honorable discharge, I worked for about two years on my great aunt's ranch, where I found a meteorite in 1971 or 72. After that, I attended Amarillo College for one year then Texas Tech for two years where I graduated with honors and a 3.56 (I think) GPA. My degree is in Zoology with a minor in Chemistry. I scored in the top 99% of first year organic chemistry students in a national standardized test.

After Texas Tech, I read an article about microcomputers and a local school that specialized in teaching these new devices. I attended Texas State Technical Institute in Amarillo, Texas for the next year learning electronics and microcomputers. I graduated the 18-month course in 1 year with a 4.0 GPA and an offer to teach at the institution the day I graduated.

After graduation I formed a computer company called Micro Mike’s. Shortly after, the company incorporated and I spent the next several years doing research into microcomputers. I will not claim that I was responsible for every thing that Micro Mike’s invented, because I had some very talented people working for me, but Micro Mike’s was an early leader of the microcomputer revolution. In the space of a few years, we integrated one of the first hard drives ever attached to a microcomputer, invented the first multi-user microprocessor system which actually worked, produced an operating system which ran programs designed for CP/M as well as our own DOS, implemented the first network in a single box (17 total processors), wrote our own DOS, baZic language, operating systems, and applications software. In those days I was known as Micro Mike and had computer systems installed in every continent except Antarctica by 1981.

Micro Mike’s eventually went bankrupt due to lack of business management. Since that time, I have been raising my two kids as a single father. I have stayed in the computer field, but have continued to study all aspects of science. After reading the article "Crisis in the Cosmos" in Discover Magazine, I decided to renew my pursuit of a "theory of everything" that I had begun while at Texas Tech. The philosophy side of my home page is the direct result of that search. In regards to education, my only remaining goal is to someday earn an honorary doctorate in Thinkology from the University of Kansas.

The picture below represents the answer to both of my prayers. The rock on the right is the "piece of space" that God "sent" me and the rock with a stick in it represents the basic principle from "The Philosophy of Space and Time," which is that mass and gravity are two aspects of the same thing. Each particle that comes into existence, must bring it's own space and the connections of gravions make all the space that we "know." The stick and rock would therefore represent the best way to view the smallest particles that exist. The rock represents mass and the stick represents the "first" connection of gravity, or gravion. Thus, all real "things" are made of energy, some of which is used to make mass, and some of which is used to make gravions (or the space for their existence), and some of which roams about the system. As systems become more complex, they make more and different kinds of gravions. As systems come into contact with each other, their gravions connect and energy is exchange through these connections of gravity.

So here are two modern day miracles, in my humble opinion. I don't know what the odds are of a rock being "knocked" off Mars. I don't know what the odds are of it having vesicles and being full of sand. I don't know what the odds are that it would have a shape, structure, and composition that allowed it to come through our atmosphere, with little visible damage. I don't know what the odds are that it would fall less than 20 miles from where I was born and less than 2 miles from where I was sleeping. I don't know what the odds are that all of these things would happen to the same rock. But no matter what the odds, it seems to have happened, and that seems like enough evidence to me. It is a miracle.

The other rock was found one day while hiking in the wilderness. I thought it so unusual when I came upon it and saw that it had a hole all the way through it. Then, I had the strongest impulse to put my walking stick into the hole, because they looked about the same size. Much to my amazement, the stick fit. And not only did it fit, it fit exactly the right angle to hold my crooked stick upright, without outside assistance. Now I don't know what the odds are of finding a rock with a hole in it. And I don't know what the odds are of it being the right size and angle to hold my stick. And I don't know what the odds are that I would be working on a theory of gravity that needed a basic and understandable model of how to view things in their entirety. But to me, it is enough to call a miracle. So if you ask me. God answers prayers and miracles still happen!
