Dick

October 27, 1997

Dick,

Please run the complete K-Ar test on this sample. It came from about 5 inches below the surface. I used a 5/8" copper tube and drove it into the "heart" of the rock. This rock is so delicate that driving the copper tube into the rock didn't distort the copper tubing.

If I owe you for doing the Ar test again, then please charge me the appropriate amount. I contracted with you to do the test and I am an honorable person and want to pay what I owe.

Even if this rock is only tens of millions of years old, it couldn't survive that long on Earth. I have looked at the rocks at Mr. Capulin, which is the nearest volcano to me having erupted about six thousand years ago, and that rock is much more tougher than my rock and much more degraded by the weather.

I thank you for your help. Please let me know when you get a definite age for this new sample.

Thanks,
