Dick,

Here is the sample that we talked about yesterday. My rock was made when volcanic material moved through a bed of sand and incorporated the sandy material into the interior vesicles of the rock. This happened, per your testing, 13 million years ago. The sandy material has not been wet since the rock formed. The sandy material is very simple in composition. There is silicon rich material composed of very small particles. There is a clay type material. There are rounded particles that I think were formed when the hot lava hit the sandy material and converted some of it into these round shiny particles. There is debris from the watercourse that appears to be the bodies of ancient creatures. And finally, there are small pieces of volcanic material that was already in the sand when the lava captured it. These are the pieces that I have tried to isolate and have now sent to you for another K-Ar test. I have been able to determine that at least one of these particles was inside the rock when the rock formed. The others I must guess about using texture, color, and other factors to try to determine if they were actually inside the rock, or are they pieces of the rock itself that have broken off during sample taking.

This picture represents a possible origin site in that it meets all the requirements for particles that I see in my rock. Since there are pieces of "old" volcanic material mixed within the sand, there must be an older volcano "upstream" from the place where my rock was made. Here we clearly see a large volcano. NASA thinks this volcano is about 170 ma. Next there must be a water system to make the sand. All of the people I have talked to agree that there appear to be one or more water systems on this volcano. In addition, I think we can see additional side vents near the bottom of the volcano. This would allow a side vent to entrap the sand and volcano particles, as seen in my rock. Lastly, there must be some mechanism of sending the rock to Earth and we see a large impact area in the middle of the watercourse. These conditions seem to match all that I see in my rock.

This is why I have sent you these samples. If I have correctly identified the volcanic material that was in the watercourse before my rock was made, then these particles should test older than the rock itself. I have no way of knowing any of the particulars, but if this current test shows an age that is very much older than the 12.9 ma of the rock, then I don't think there is anywhere on Earth that could produce the situation as described.

I want to thank you for doing the best you can. This is all of this material that I can get at the present time. I know it is not much, but please do the best you can. If possible, I would like you to fax or e-mail me the results as soon as you get them.

Thank you again in advance for your work.
