Jamie 7
| From: Mike Moore [SMTP:mike@micromike.com] Sent: Monday, January 19, 1998 7:40 AM To: 'Jamie Gleason' Subject: Thanks Jamie, Thank you for giving me the name of a test and the address of the lab. It is kinda funny that I have been talking to geologist and space scientist for a full year, and not one of them has mentioned that I could get this test done at a commercial lab. I would have done this a year ago if I had known. I will send a sample off to them tomorrow and I do want you to analyze the results. If you think of any other tests that I can afford, please let me know. Please remember that the sandy material is integrated with the volcanic material, so the results will be a compilation of the two. I can see no way to separate the lava portion from the sand. Also, I will shortly do additional experiments, but it now looks to me like the actual sandy material is made of very small particles. The larger shiny pieces I think were formed from the sandy material when the hot lava hit the sand. As I examined the contents of one of the inner vesicles, I noticed that the interior was made of very fine particles and all the larger particles were around the outer edges of the contents of the vesicle. It broke apart before I was able to get any pictures, but I will try again when I take another core sample tomorrow for the ERF test. Also, Dick Reesman said that the lack of "graininess" within the lava is an indication that the rock cooled very quickly. Thanks,
