Michael 2
| Michael, In your last letter, you indicated you still haven't "seen" the fusion crust. I have just returned from Tucson where I showed my rock to David and Jamie Gleason. This makes my second visit, because the first visit I only took a sample and not the entire rock. I never could get David to actually bend over and look through my microscope, but Jamie did look at the rock and saw where it is melted. Also the geologist report indicated natural melting on his sample. I have posted pictures at my internet site that clearly show the fusion crust, but I have no way of knowing if you have looked or not. I now have further evidence to support my contention that this type of highly vesicled silicon rock has a good capacity to survive a hot environment. After taking another sample the other day for a K-Ar test I'm paying for, I began looking at the great deal of sand and dust that came out of the vesicles of the rock when I broke the sample loose. The sample was taken from a "bridge" between two larger vesicles and was taken from a location that would correspond to the bottom underside of the space shuttle. As I was looking through the sand and dust, guess what I found? I found a tiny little ingot of glass with a number of particles imbedded within. The top of the glass is flat and the bottom is shaped exactly like the volcanic portion of the rock, which apparently acted as a crucible while the SiO^2 was being melted into glass. This means the rock was at a great heat, after the sand was deposited. This also means that the volcanic portion of the rock has a higher melting point than does glass. It also indicates to me that my hypothesis is correct that the rock flew through the air in a single orientation, since I would expect it to have cooled by the time it hit the ground. Michael. I will be glad to bring this rock and the piece of glass to Houston if you want me to. I know that you guys think I am some kind of nut (and that certainly is a possibility) but I have studied science probably longer than you guys and I have always been very good at what I do, but I have never sought attention for myself. My joy is in learning something new and searching for the truth. The truth lies within this rock and nothing I can do or say can change that. But the perception of the truth seems to be more important today than discovering the truth itself. We know that is true in politics, but it scares me when that becomes true in science, because science is supposed to be about a search for the truth. Now the truth is this. I found this meteorite the next day after its fall. It was not dug up and had never been there before and it is totally unlike any kind of material that was at the site. I am telling you that there is a piece of naturally made glass that came from one of the vesicles of this rock. Now I am asking you. Can you think of an Earthly scenario where a rock is made of millions of vesicles, where the walls are so thin on the inside that many break just being held and most are as thin or thinner than a piece of paper. Almost every vesicle is filled with sand and dust, but the delicate structures show little signs of weathering. Many of the particles of sand and dust do show signs of rounding but it seems much less than similar particles I have examined that are terrestrial. So this rock must have laid in or under a water system to collect so much material. But then, after the sand and dust is deposited, the rock is heated to such a temperature that some of the sand melts and makes glass. The outside of the rock shows melting at every point that "sticks out" from the rock. And the rock has no sand or dust in any of the outer vesicles, but a layer of sand and dust is "stuck" to the walls of these and other outer vesicles. And to top all of this off, this rock appears one day at a place where there are no rocks, much less delicate highly vesicled silicon rocks. This rock shows no signs of Earthly weathering. It has never been through a single freeze-thaw cycle. It completely falls apart when water is added. Everyone keeps talking about the probabilities against this rock. It is my humble opinion that if one were to scientifically examine the things I have just said, and they proved true, then the probability is much greater that this rock came from space than that it came from Earth. I can think of no Earthly scenarios that would account for this rock. And besides, nature doesn't work in probabilities, it only does what it does. Others can spend all their time in studying possibilities, but I choose only to learn the truth of what I see. Discussing the possibility that this rock could fall from the sky seems absurd when the rock has already fallen. I have been "talking" via e-mail with Walter Gotz who is involved with the magnetic dust experiments and he and his colleges think that some of these high silicon rocks should be on Earth. From the pictures of Mars from the three locations, it looks to me like the high silicon rocks may be one half or more of the surface rocks on Mars. If 12 of the "other" rocks have made it to Earth, it is likely that at least some of the high silicon rocks have also made the trip. How many people would recognize them if they do have the characteristics that I claim and that my rock shows? I have predicted that the magnetic Martian dust will look like these high silicon rocks. I have carefully examined the magnetic dust within my meteorite and found that it is composed of two factions. First, the volcanic portion of my rock is magnetic, so naturally, many of the small fragments that break off as I am taking samples have shown up on the magnet. I can identify them because they have very sharp edges. But most of the particles seem to be "older" small particles of volcanic material which shows the weathering effects that I spoke of earlier. I say older only because I assume that they were formed upstream and broken down by wind and water and motion and then later deposited in my rock. I have carefully gone through the color photos of the magnetic Martian dust and the color of my dust is certainly consistent. Here are two pictures of the glass structure taken under halogen and then natural light.
I tell you guys all of this because I care about you. Some day the truth will come out that you didn't believe me, and I don't want you or anyone else to be hurt. If this rock is from Mars, then it is a gift to all of humankind. I want it to help bring people together, not tear them apart. So I want you to understand, that no matter how many times you reject me, or whatever limits this thing goes to before it is resolved, I will always be your friend. I understand your viewpoint on this matter, but hopefully as a philosopher, my viewpoint is larger and assumes less. Time will only tell, but please take me seriously and help me determine the truth of this rock. It is too important to humanity to ignore. If you have arguments for a terrestrial origin that fit all of the facts, please explain them to me. I am serious about bringing the rock to Houston. All I ask is that you give me 2 hours to go over all of the evidence and a chance to argue any objections you might raise. If you will give me a chance, I can show you the fusion crust within 10 minutes of my arrival, but you have to be willing to bend over and look through the microscope. Think about this please. This situation has been very hard on me because people have believed me all my life. I have built my life and reputation on being an honest person who knows what he is talking about. I am used to having people listen when I talk, but over the Internet, no one seems to listen and that is the reason I went to Tucson. I ask only that you give me the opportunity to prove my integrity and my intellect. Your friend,
