It turns out that virtually everyone around here has gone to the

Meteoritical Society Meeting in Dublin. I cannot reach anyone this week

so my suggestion is that we wait a couple of weeks until everyone gets

back and try to set up something then.

I don't get your point about inviting non-experts; I thought you were

concerned that no one was willing to examine the rock. An examination

by someone unqualified doesn't seem very useful. While I am sympathetic

to your concern that 'experts' might have opinions that are shaded by

their experiences and beliefs, I think that holds for all parties.

Besides, I don't buy the idea that the meteorite specialists would not

be interested in your rock if they see any potential in it being a

meteorite. The people I know working in meteoritics are better than

that.
